Mobile Data Unit

The Greyhawk MDU displays scheduled trips assigned to the vehicle at the beginning of the schedule date as well as updates from the PtMS dispatcher - trip cancellations and new trip assignments. Drivers can update the scheduled trips with performance data - actual pickup and drop times, fares collected, odometer readings, and trip status (completed trip).

ABS MDT Manager

The ABS MDT Manager runs on a network workstations that is connected to the PtMS SQL Database. The MDT Manager constantly monitors the PtMS SQL database for changes or new records in the Schedule table. These new records or record updates or changes are transferred to the Greyhawk MDT Web Server every 15 seconds. For example, the first 15 seconds and third 15 second interval of each minute new record or record updates are transferred to the Greyhawk MDT Web Server. The second and fouth 15 second interval every minute updates received from the MDUs in the vehicle and are queued up on the Greyhawk MDT Web server are downloaded and used to update the PtMS schedule table.

The program handling this exchange of information between the MDUs and the PtMS SQL datbase is referred to as the ABS MDT Manager and can be seen running on one of the network workstations from 4am (when it automatically starts as a scheduled task) to 11:50 pm (when the program automatically shuts down) each day. The ABS MDT Manager program user interface looks like this:

PtMS Dispatch Screen - Displaying Verified Trip Information

The PtMS Dispatch screen is designed to automatically refresh the screen every 30 seconds (unless the user suspends this feature at the bottom of the screen or is actively editing or has opened a window on the screen - the the refresh loop is reset to zero until they finish). Each refresh will display trip verification performance data received from the MDUs - this includes actual pickup and drop times, trip status, and odometer readings and fares collected.
